Register Now! Symposium: Decentralizing Power and DEI in the International Aid and Development Sector

Register now to join us for a half-day symposium on Decentralizing Power and DEI in the International Aid and Development Sector! The program features a keynote from Angela Bruce-Raeburn of DiverseDev, along with moderator Peter Vega of the Obama Foundation. Other panelists include Simmons Center members/partners Shilpa Alva from Surge for Water and Breanna Rodriguez from Essence Consulting.

How can we contribute to dismantling inequitable structures and decentralizing power? The symposium will explore key questions about how diversity, equity, and inclusion manifest in our field, and what it means for operating nonprofits to pursue these values. Topics include:

  • Localization, decentralization and proximate leadership: understanding power dynamics at play in our work. What is within our reach?
  • Centering DEI in the global engagement sector: examining inequitable structures, designing effective strategies, understanding how they differ from those used in the US.
  • Program design: a tool for dismantling power inequities and decolonizing the aid sector.

Thanks to program sponsors: The Chicago Community Trust, The Field Foundation of Illinois, C3Legal, ProCFO Partners and Four Corners Global Consulting Group
